From the Prisons to the World
By Dalila Correa
God works in mysterious and surprising ways. We had returned to Peru in 2009 after a few years living in the United States of America, and God put on me a huge burden to share His Word and message of salvation with people from other places and languages. I thought, I can’t do it. I only speak Spanish, my native language, and a little English, and do not have the economic capacity to travel.
It was at that time God opened a door for me I never thought about, through the prison ministry, so I could share His message of salvation with foreign inmates in three different prisons in Lima. There were ladies from countries around the world incarcerated there, and all spoke English besides their native languages. God had answered my prayer in an unimaginable way.
I enjoyed this ministry so much, visiting the ladies of these three places on three different days of the week. The biggest number were in Santa Monica. They had nobody, and needed not only the Word of God, but a friendly hand that could help.
After some months working with these ladies, my prayer was for the Lord to place on them such a need to really love Him with all their heart, enough to share His message with their relatives and friends. I prayed that they might become the missionaries I couldn’t be to their countries. God answered this prayer, too.
Rosaura, a young woman from Brazil, is one example. Rosaura had lived in England before she came to Peru. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior while she was in prison in Santa Monica, and I witnessed the hunger and thirst she had to learn from the Word of God. She finished all the Source of Light studies brought to her in the prison.
Upon leaving in freedom and returning to her country of origin, she shared the message with her family and friends. However, having no work option in Brazil, she returned to England where she currently resides and works.
Rosaura did not only share her faith in Brazil. In England, she joined a local church and now serves in her free time in a ministry to prisons. She is continuing the work, giving the same message of hope that was given to her.
Here are Rosaura’s own words:
I like to share with you today my blessings to be in Peru for six years, so I got the opportunity to meet my friend and lover, Jesus Christ. I will thank You, Jesus, for all Your love and mercy to me. And l also thank Dalila for being with me during that time and sharing the Word of God with us there. For me it was very important because I never before read the Bible or prayed to ask His mercy and forgiveness. All I thought was only that I should believe He is God. But I realize we need to ask for forgiveness of sins, and live in faith every day in our life. I am really happy with my life now with God my Father. And I thank God for letting me share His Word with my family and friends.
I wish we all would share His Word all over the world so more people can meet this lover and salvation.
I still keep contact with several of the women who are back home, and pray they may continue seeking God’s will in everything they do. How wonderful to get to reach all over the world simply by obeying God’s call where I am.
