Feed My Sheep – Brazil
By Samuel Milanez | SLM Brazil Director
When Jesus changes Peter’s question from agape love to phileo love, He teaches us that His call to us can be fulfilled despite our limitations.
In October 2016, a young man whom I had never seen but who knew much about our ministry entered the Source of Light Office in Brazil. He had studied our courses 15 years ago, and was now for the fourth time trying to re-study them.
His name is Fabio Luna, and his presence in my office surprised me. He had already studied in 2001, then returned in 2003 when he completed A Country Called Heaven books 1 and 2, but stopped early in book 3. In 2005, he studied only one lesson, and in 2009 four more, and then he stopped for seven years.
What was he doing in my office that day? What, or who had brought him to me? In his own words: The Holy Spirit—Who had reminded him of this material and gave him the desire to complete it. Not only that, but he took the courses to two or three close friends. In a few days, other friends wanted to know about our courses, and some more, and others, until we had more than 50 lives being reached by the Source of Light courses. People that neither I nor he even knew. The work had gone through us, far beyond us.
That day I could not hear the voice of God, but He was speaking to me—Samuel, shepherd this My sheep! Fabio had no idea either, but God had also told him that day—I have sheep for you to shepherd!
The untold story is that this was my first year with the Source of Light ministry. I had only been here eight months, but it had been long enough for me to find that almost everyone who promised to support me in this ministry had forgotten me. Discouraged, I watched my family go through difficult times while the ministry was not progressing, and so I had made plans to leave.
What was he doing there in my office then? What, or who had brought him to me? In my words: The Holy Spirit!
Brother Fabio’s excitement, and his weekly testimony of how the courses were building His church, raised my spirits. And the working method that I developed with him has become the official method used today in the whole country, and it has been the most successful.
He didn’t know, but he also pastored this sheep here, me.
The Bible teaches us that the only way for two Christians to have fellowship with one another is to walk in the Light (1 John 1:7). And this is how by loving Jesus, we can be of mutual edification.
My prayer is that all who read this story will find someone to build into, who also can build into you. Even if you believe you are too weak or too small to pastor someone, you can do so without even realizing it.
God bless you.
